Refrigeration

Process and cold storage refrigeration you can rely on.

Industrial refrigeration is a different discipline from commercial HVAC. An industrial refrigeration plant is a complex system: flooded and liquid-overfeed evaporators, screw and reciprocating compressors, evaporative condensers, pressure vessels and receivers, oil management, purgers, and a PLC tying it all together.

The stakes are not comparable to a rooftop unit going down. A cold storage warehouse or processing plant that loses refrigeration puts inventory on a clock measured in hours.

Capabilities

What we service on industrial refrigeration.

  • Screw and reciprocating compressor service, overhaul, and vibration analysis
  • Evaporative condenser cleaning, water treatment, and head pressure optimization
  • Leak detection, repair, and pump-down of isolated system sections
  • Hot gas defrost troubleshooting and sequencing to prevent hydraulic shock
  • Relief valve replacement and three-way changeover assembly service
  • Oil management: draining, separator elements, filtration, and oil analysis
  • Purger service and non-condensable removal to restore condensing pressure
  • PLC and compressor panel controls and alarms

FAQ

Common refrigeration questions.

Because the failures that put your inventory at risk build slowly and quietly. Vibration analysis on the compressors, oil analysis, purger service, and evaporative condenser cleaning catch wear and lost capacity while they are still a scheduled repair rather than an emergency. On a cold storage or processing plant, finding the problem on a planned visit is the difference between a work order and inventory on a clock.

Usually condensing pressure. Non-condensables collecting in the system and fouled or poorly treated evaporative condensers both drive head pressure up, and higher head pressure means the compressors draw more power for the same cooling. Purger service and non-condensable removal, condenser cleaning and water treatment, and head pressure optimization bring it back down. Oil that is past its service life adds to the same slow drift.

First we work to keep as much of the plant carrying load as possible. Because sections can be isolated and pumped down, a failure in one part does not always stop the whole system, which buys your inventory time. From there it is leak detection and repair, checking the controls and alarms that flagged the fault, and getting the compressors and the defrost sequence back to normal operation.
